It is a Russian-designed tank that has been licensed and produced in India by the Heavy Vehicles Factory  ( HVF ) of the Ordnance Factories Board. The T-90 is an upgraded version of the T-72 tank and features advanced armour protection, mobility, and firepower.

The T-90 Tank is a development of the T-72, incorporating a number of evolutionary improvements. It is a 3rd generation Russian MBT, a lower-cost vehicle than equivalent Western MBTs. It was designed & built by Uralvagonzavod, in Nizhny Tagil, Russia. Entered service with the Russian Army in 1992.
